Abofrem Pastor Arrested Over Alleged Attempt to Bury 5-Month-Old Baby Alive

A pastor has been arrested in connection with an alleged attempt to bury a five-month-old baby alive at Abofrem in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region, an incident that has left residents deeply shocked and disturbed.

The suspect, identified as Richmond Akwasi Frimpong, Head Pastor of the Anointed Grace Prayer Ministry at Kuffour Camp, was apprehended following the incident, which reportedly unfolded late in the night under suspicious circumstances.

Eyewitness Intervention Prevents Possible Tragedy

According to eyewitness accounts, the pastor and an accomplice were seen around 11 p.m. at a refuse dump with the infant. The situation reportedly raised suspicion among nearby community members.

An eyewitness, Winfred Agbah, said he intervened after noticing unusual activity at the scene. Upon closer inspection, he discovered that the baby was still alive and appeared to be on the verge of burial.

He immediately raised an alarm, prompting swift action from other residents, an intervention that is believed to have prevented what could have turned into a fatal incident.

Traditional Authorities Confirm Prior Claims

The Chief Linguist of Abofrem, Nana Yaw Badu, also confirmed that the suspect had earlier informed him that the child had died, which led to initial discussions around burial arrangements.

However, he noted that he was not aware at the time that the baby was still alive, a revelation that has since added further complexity to the case.

The five-month-old baby girl is currently receiving treatment at a government hospital, where medical personnel are closely monitoring her condition. Authorities have not yet released further details regarding her health status.

The Ghana Police Service has since arrested both the pastor and his accomplice. The two are currently assisting with investigations as law enforcement works to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
