From a distracted beginning, a man grew up in pain with a heavy wish in his heart to fill the empty bellies of many.

For years, hunger in Ghana has been a quiet shadow following many. It persists not just in rural areas but also in city corners, where families go to bed without knowing what they will eat the next day. However, out of this need, a movement has emerged: the RNAQ Food Bank Movement.

One man’s vision—that ‘no Ghanaian should go to bed hungry’—was the starting point. Holding fast to his idea, the Richard Nii Armah Quaye Foundation created a movement known as The RNAQ Food Bank, which aims to feed thousands of people with a nutritious meal each day.

In addition to filling plates, his leadership has brought opportunity and dignity back to the country.

This effort, which began on August 1, 2025, gives free hot meals while emphasising dignity, justice, and the growth of communities.

The project began with five functioning centres in high-need regions of Greater Accra: Korle-Gonno, Kasoa, Ashaiman, Odorkor, & Madina

With the longer-term goal of achieving countrywide coverage, preparations are also in motion to extend into the Ashanti Region in the following weeks.

Leadership & Vision

Founder and CEO Richard Nii Armah Quaye, President of RNAQ Holdings, previously ran Bills MicroCredit and Quick Angels. He is the main factor behind the food security effort.

Mr. Quaye believes that access to food is a fundamental human right, reflecting Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. He positions the Food Bank as more than simply a charity; it is a tool for nation-building.

Goals and Effects

Low-income families, homeless children, the elderly, and anybody else temporarily suffering food insecurity are among the vulnerable populations that the RNAQ Food Bank assists. Purchasing hot food from neighbourhood food vendors promotes nutrition and strengthens the local economy.

“Food is more than a meal—it is hope, dignity, and the start of a better tomorrow. Together, we can turn every empty plate into a story of possibility.” — Richard Nii Armah Quaye
