Jumic Emma Anderson Selected for the 11th BSIFF Jury
African Movie Academy Award-nominated and multiple-award-winning Ghanaian filmmaker Jumic Emma Anderson has joined the jury for the 11th Black Star International Film Festival (BSIFF), bringing a wealth of international filmmaking experience and a passion for impactful storytelling to this year’s festival.
Currently based in Canada, Jumic is the Creative Director and Head of Jumicon Pictures, where he develops socially conscious films that explore complex human relationships, children’s rights, youth development, and the lived experiences of marginalised communities.
His work is widely recognized for combining compelling narratives with meaningful social themes that inspire reflection and dialogue.
Over the years, his films have earned international recognition and numerous awards, underscoring his commitment to using cinema as a catalyst for positive change. Through thoughtful storytelling and strong visual narratives, he continues to create films that resonate with audiences across cultures.
Jumic is currently in post-production on ABOAGYE, a Canadian short film funded by the City of Toronto through the Toronto Arts Council.
The project explores themes of isolation, human connection, and the immigrant experience, further demonstrating his ability to tell stories that transcend borders while remaining deeply human.
As a member of the 11th BSIFF Jury, Jumic Emma Anderson brings international perspective, creative excellence, and a strong commitment to authentic African storytelling.
His experience will play an important role in recognizing outstanding films and celebrating the next generation of filmmakers from Africa and beyond.
