Jewell King-Speaks Brings Storytelling to BSIFF Jury
Award-winning Ghanaian spoken word artist, storyteller, emerging filmmaker, and cinematographer Eastwind-Blessmann Jewell, professionally known as Jewell King-Speaks, has joined the jury for the 11th Black Star International Film Festival (BSIFF), bringing a distinctive blend of literary artistry and visual storytelling to the celebration of African cinema.
Renowned for his compelling performances and thought-provoking narratives, Jewell King-Speaks has inspired audiences across Ghana, West Africa, and beyond through works that explore identity, culture, social justice, and personal transformation.
His ability to connect with audiences through both spoken word and film has established him as one of Ghana’s most dynamic creative voices.
A multiple-time poetry slam champion, Jewell is the co-founder of Back2kcab Poetry and Rhetoric Orchestra and the founder of Nyame Mma Tribe, two initiatives dedicated to empowering young people through literature, public speaking, mentorship, and creative expression.
His commitment to nurturing emerging talent reflects his passion for using the arts as a catalyst for education, dialogue, and social change.
Expanding his creative journey into filmmaking, Jewell is currently pursuing a degree in Cinematography at the University of Media, Arts and Communication – Institute of Film and Television (UniMAC-IFT), where he continues to refine his craft as a visual storyteller.
His transition from spoken word to cinema demonstrates his dedication to exploring new ways of preserving and sharing authentic African stories.
