Freeman Akomea Joins 11th BSIFF Jury Panel
Ghanaian filmmaker, producer, industry leader, and creative mentor Freeman Akomea has joined the jury panel for the 11th Black Star International Film Festival (BSIFF), bringing more than 22 years of experience in Ghana’s film and television industry to the prestigious celebration of African cinema.
Since beginning his professional journey in 2000, Freeman Akomea has built an impressive career as a director and producer, contributing significantly to the growth and advancement of Ghanaian filmmaking. His dedication to storytelling, talent development, and industry excellence has established him as a respected voice within the creative sector.
He currently serves as the National Chaplain and Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Film Directors Guild of Ghana (FDGG), where he provides leadership, professional guidance, and support to filmmakers across the country. Through this role, he continues to champion collaboration, mentorship, and the development of a stronger film ecosystem in Ghana.
Beyond his work with the FDGG, Freeman Akomea is also a Board Director of KAFA (Kumawood), contributing to initiatives focused on strengthening and sustaining the Kumawood film industry. His involvement in industry leadership has positioned him as an advocate for professionalism, improved standards, and opportunities for emerging filmmakers.
Throughout his career, Freeman Akomea has been recognized for his integrity, creativity, and commitment to authentic storytelling. His extensive experience in film production, directing, and creative leadership brings valuable insight to the BSIFF jury panel as the festival continues to celebrate outstanding voices shaping African cinema.
